Hi! My name’s Edward. I’m a native English teacher born in Canada, raised and educated in the United States. I also lived and studied in Germany. I’ve been living in Hong Kong for several years and have experience in teaching and tutoring English to all age groups, from primary school to adult seniors.

I have a BA degree from Portland State University, as well as a Certificate to Teach English as a Second Language. I have experience in preparing students for exams, interviews, and public speaking events, and have taught Cambridge and Trinity courses.

I have taught in a variety of learning environments – international schools (the German-Swiss International School, the French International School, and Yew Chung International School), Chinese schools, language learning centres, and private one-on-one sessions. Currently, I am teaching part-time for two Chinese schools and a language center. I am patient and supportive and try always to encourage my students and develop their confidence in speaking and writing.

Language learning should be fun, not a chore. I try to make each lesson interesting and enjoyable through a variety of different activities and skill building work. Bringing my passion for teaching to each lesson is very important to me. I encourage and motivate students, helping them along the way to reach their goals. I am friendly and always positive and patient, and very supportive and encouraging, regardless of how young or old the student might be. I try to help each student be as good as he can be in English.

My lessons include a variety of different exercises to build grammar, vocabulary, speaking, conversation, pronunciation, phonetics, listening, reading, writing, punctuation, and spelling, And along the way, I try to encourage each student’s self-confidence and motivation. I also provide very specialize lessons for students with particular language needs.

In addition to English, I can also teach history, geography, and elementary German.
